My First Shipt Experience

Last week, I decided to give Shipt a try since it was the only service that had a delivery window within 48 hours. I didn’t want to make another trip to the grocery store this month so I gave in and ordered my groceries instead.

I quickly downloaded the Shipt app on my iPhone, created a grocery list of items which I would get from my local Target, and paid the membership fee of $14/month. Since I had to choose items from Target, I could have added some other items from the store, but this shopping trip was specifically for food!

I ended up ordering $180 worth of food, but given high demand and lack of availability of some items I ended up receiving $133 worth of food with a few substitutions.

What was great about this service was that the shopper who would be delivering my items was very communicative and upfront as to what was going on. An hour before my delivery window (1:00 PM to 3:00 PM) was suppose to start, I got text from my shopper telling me he’s starting to shop for my order shortly. This made me happy and it gave me a timeline (somewhat) of when to expect my delivery.

Around 3:15 PM, I texted the shopper to ask for an ETA and he replied immediately with, “A bunch of your frozen items were out earlier so I was waiting for them to restock a bit. Will keep you posted.” I was immediately impressed with the transparency and willingness to wait for my frozen items. From there, my shopper and I, went back and forth with questions about my order and what was available in the store.

Around 5:30 PM, I received a text that the shopper was 10 mins away and that he would text me when he arrived. I suggested that he leave the groceries at the door and I will pick up once he leaves to practice social distancing! Once it was delivered and the driver left, I received a detailed email with the list of items I received, which items were substituted, and which items were unavailable.

Overall, I was VERY impressed with Shipt and the service I received. I have used many delivery services in the past and Shipt is now in my top 3 delivery services. I will definitely use them again in the future!
