I’m lucky enough to live in Massachusetts and love the foliage in the Fall. Many of you might be thinking about fall foliage and know that the beauty found in New England during this time of year is next level! I’ve chosen some must-visit locations in Massachusetts for you to check out this season!

Want to check out more information about Massachusetts? Here is the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau website with all of the information you could possibly need to plan your trip. If you’re more comfortable doing walking or driving tours, you can book your tours ahead here.

Below you’ll find some of the highly recommended areas and sights to visit in the state of Massachusetts during the fall season. Please review my list of ideas and make a plan for a day-long road trip or fall vacation.

Best Fall Day Trips In Massachusetts:

Cape Cod

The beauty and serenity of Cape Cod is always a beautiful sight to see, but it’s perfect in the Fall. Here you’ll find beaches and other things along the coastline that you can enjoy.  Make sure to visit Provincetown as well during your trip. It’s so much fun!

Boston

Even though you can find so much history in Boston, it’s still one of the best places to visit. You’ll find many things to do here, including listening to live music at the Boston Pops. There are also many great restaurants and bars that you can visit for an authentic Boston experience. One place to go is the Bell in Hand pub, where both locals and visitors love to hang out.

Greenfield

Once the home to many historic buildings, Greenfield makes visitors feel like they’ve gone back in time. Make sure to watch a show at the Gillioz Theatre and see some of the museums, such as the Wilder Museum, which is known for its true one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience.

Cape Ann

Once one of the best places to visit during summer, Cape Ann becomes even better during Fall. You’ll find many things to do and see on the water, as well as some fantastic views of the fall foliage. Also, make sure you visit Gloucester and Rockport during your trip, both of which are highly recommended by previous visitors.

Springfield

In addition to being a great place to spend a day for entertainment purposes, Springfield and Western Mass are beautiful to visit in the Fall. You’ll find a variety of things to do here, including going on a haunted tour and seeing some of the best museums. You can visit the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame during your trip as well.

Concord

Concord is perfect for people who love seeing historical landmarks. This includes visiting Emerson’s home, where he wrote his famous poem “Concord Hymn.” Also, make sure you check out Walden Pond while here and take a tour of the historic Battle Road Trail. Be sure to pack your map because it’s easy to get lost here if you’re not careful.

Shelburne Falls

You’ll find some exciting artwork along with natural beauty that will keep your attention throughout the day. You can view this scenery from the top of the Bridge of Flowers. Additionally, there are many great shops and restaurants nearby that you can visit for a unique experience. One place to eat is Koji’s Ozark Mill, which serves up some fantastic food from worldwide.

I hope you find this list helpful for finding some great places to visit in Massachusetts during the fall season. If you need help with narrowing down your choices, feel free to ask me anything. I’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.
