5 Simple Ways To Clear Your Mind

by | Nov 7, 2017 | Wellness | 0 comments

Small little changes to your daily habits can help to clear your mind and improve your stress levels tremendously.

Personally, I know that if I don’t stick to a solid routine at night, I won’t be able to sleep well because my mind is racing! It’s taken me years to actually be comfortable with self-care tools (many of which I go over in the Self Care Success Kit) and it’s completely changed my life.

Here is a short list of ways to clear your mind and calm your nerves:

Write

Try writing out your thoughts. For some people, journaling works great. However, for people like me, I’d rather type things out. I always have my open and ready for when inspiration strikes! Simply put, if you need a good way to get something off of your mind, open a notebook (or Word) and let it out.

Meditate

Meditation is one of the best ways to calm your mind and have a “mind like water”. If you have a lot of noise in your mind and can’t seem to think, meditation is a good way to purify it. There are many forms of meditation to choose from, but if you need to read up on the best way to mediate and practice mindfulness as a beginner, check out this book first.

Take up a Hobby

Sometimes, doing what you love can calm you down. Whether it’s knitting or fishing, while you’re doing something you love, you can get lost in its familiarity and have time to clear your thoughts. If your hobby is to draw or paint, create something that helps you see your thoughts on paper. What does your mind look like?

Go for a Walk

Just think. Go for a walk and try to file your thoughts into organization. Take in the fresh air and be patient with yourself. Walking also provides a great aerobic exercise, so you can feed your body a healthy habit and declutter your mind.

Talk

If all else fails, confide in someone. You may have an emotional event going on in your life and you just need someone there to listen. You can confide in a significant other, best friend, family member, or even a psychiatrist or shrink. A professional may be able to help guide you on how to get rid of your cluttered mind in a more personal way that fits best for you. A personal friend may be able to see things “outside of the box” and give insight as to what it seems like is going on in your head.

There are many other ways to clear your mind, but these five are very important to me.

Just remember that everyone always has something going on whether they want to show it or not, so understanding that people clear their mind in different ways is very important.
