Since I’ve been working on my own self development for almost 3 years now, I have a list of books that I will consistently recommend to my biz besties and my friends who are in the know.
While they are more on the spiritual level of wellness, they all discuss topics surrounding self development, mindset blocks, personal struggles, self confidence, and self love.

The first book that I’d recommend is “Light Is The New Black” by Rebecca Campbell.
This helped me personally understand that I was blocking my own light from shining and it taught me to see the world from a different perspective. After I started reading this book, I began to feel energy shifting all around me. I suddenly became more positive, more ambitious, and felt more connected to myself. I also kept repeating the following statement to myself, “We all need to start somewhere,” and felt more comfortable about where I am.
— Rebecca Campbell, Light is the New Black
“I’d spent the majority of my life looking outside of myself for answers. Reaching for anything I could get my hands on, in order to soothe the subtle aching, longing, yearning, and calling deep within my soul, which said that there was something I was missing. There was something more.”
The second book I would recommend is “The Universe Has Your Back: Transform Fear to Faith” by Gabrielle Bernstein.
This book was also very important in my own spiritual journey. It teaches you that the universe has a plan for all of us and that everything is divinely guided. It also teaches you how to stop controlling everything in your life and how to start embracing flow. This book helped me see that I needed to trust my own intuition and inner guidance by understanding that I did not need to explain or justify anything to anyone.
— Gabrielle Bernstein
“My commitment with this book is to wake up as many people as possible to their connection to faith and joy. In that connection, we can be guided to our true purpose: to be love and spread love. These words can no longer be cute buzz phrases that we merely post on social media. Rather, these words must be our mission. The happiness, safety, and security we long for lies in our commitment to love.”
Finally, the third book I would recommend is “You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth” by Jen Sincero.
I recently finished reading this book and it’s definitely helped me shift my mindset surrounding money. I realized that money blocks are usually deep rooted issues that are passed along by others in your life who have a lack mindset about money. It’s also a great book to read if you’re struggling with breaking away from the negative money mindset your family and friends may have.
— Jen Sincero, You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth
“We tend to hold on to resentment because we feel like the nitwit who wronged us doesn’t deserve forgiveness. Meanwhile, the only person being punished by your resentment is you. Forgiveness is about you deserving peace, not necessarily about others deserving your forgiveness. You are allowing nasty those of nasty things to take up precious space in your mind. If you love yourself, you’ll end your own torture and let it go.”
I’d love to hear which books changed your life. I’m willing to bet that one of them is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert or maybe, it’s her other book, Eat Pray Love… that book got me thinking that I need to focus on myself and take a major time-out! The whole self development process isn’t always hearts and flowers.
No matter what book you choose to read, it helps you grow. It may not seem that way at first but once you start implementing bits and pieces of the information you acquired while reading, you’ll start to see small changes take shape in your life.
I can’t wait to see all of your favorite books! Don’t be shy! Share them below in the comments.
